Amy Winehouse Tickets—confusing the Personal With the Public

Amy Winehouse tickets are now available at Stubhub.com!

For better or worse, Amy Winehouse’s publicity campaign is in full-swing. Mostly for worse—the 24-year-old singer has been in the public eye for the better part of the year for numerous drug and alcohol related incidents, becoming the brunt of many late night talk show hosts’ opening monologues and generally becoming a public target.

What’s lost in all the hubbub over her wild antics and behavior is the fact that she’s a very capable singer and musician in her own right. Her fans have known this since 2003, when she first released her debut album, “Frank,” and introduce them to her sultry, jazzy voice. In 2006, she released a sophomore effort, “Back to Black.” Before its release, her record company asked her to enter rehab. She ditched the company and wrote a song about dealing with them, aptly titled “Rehab.” It became a winning single, and despite the ire and jeering she’s gotten in the court of public opinion, she’s still found numerous loyal fans that fervently believe in her skill as a musical artist.

It’s interesting that nobody’s made the obvious comparisons to Winehouse that immediately leap to mind, namely, pop stars Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan. This is probably because Winehouse would never keep company with them—they’re both very, very different genres of music, and of the three, it’s more than arguable that Winehouse actually has talent—but they’re all really quite similar. It’s predictable that young women who gain fame and wealth so early in life, especially those who already have troubled psyches which they use to produce their music, will without fail lose themselves a little. It’s a shame, certainly, but not a surprise by any means.

The question is, will Amy Winehouse lose her career first, or her partying lifestyle? For those holding Amy Winehouse tickets, the hope is for the latter. She’s an amazing performer, one who puts her entire soul in her songs, leaving a fan feeling fulfilled. That explains why so many of her fans are very concerned about her health and mental well-being, and why they hope she’ll see herself through this difficult time.
